Who are these community watchdogs known as the Ponte Vedra Coalition?

Their numbers are minuscule. However they claim to have members representing several homeowners associations. That alone is reason for alarm.

Case in point, the Players Club Masters Association.

For almost ten years as a resident and several time board member of the sub association of Oakbridge, I and fellow board members have been continually lied to and ignored by the Players Club Masters Association maintenance and waterway committee and by workers hired by May Management to do the job.

Since I moved here 14 years ago, the waterways in the Oakbridge community have been turning into swampy cesspools.

Under permits issued by the St. Johns River Water Management District, the developers of the Players Club were required to clean and maintain all waterways in the community. In 2001, I and The Players Club Master Association received a letter from the district confirming this to be fact.

The Masters Association’s immediate response was to lawyer up, and they used that stall tactic for several years.

Finally, after repeated directives from the district and extremely heated discussions between Oakbridge board members and the maintenance and waterways committee, the Masters Association agreed to live up to their part of the bargain.

The results to date: Nothing.

In fact, after agreeing to clean and bring up to date the swales and drainage ditches, which regularly flooded and were their responsibility in Oakbridge, they failed to finish the job.

Something about money. This from an association with more than a million dollars in reserve.

These are the people serving on the Ponte Vedra Coalition, whose only apparent goal is to end run around the County Commision

Master Association Coalitions in Ponte Vedra can only be one thing, dangerous.

Any day now I expect the Coalition to send a garage door timer in the mail, set to close my garage door after so many seconds.

I hope my dog can get out of the way.
