In a few weeks, St. Johns County administration will unveil a road map outlining a comprehensive, top-to-bottom reorganization of its departments.
When the dust settles, the reorganization will have consolidated and condensed the nearly 40 current departments down to approximately 17, said County Administrator Michael Wanchick.
“One of the things the commission asked me to do when I was hired was to focus on streamlining the organization, financially and in the way it was being operated,” he said. “The only way you can do that is to examine the organization from top to bottom. Every full-time position in the county had to be looked at.”
