City of St. Augustine Announces Cancellations
City trash pick-up, Historic Architectural Review Board and
Concerts in the Plaza all cancelled for Thursday, August 21
Due to weather conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Fay, the City of St. Augustine has announced several cancellations for Thursday, August 21.
All residential trash and recycling pick-ups scheduled for Thursday have been cancelled. Trash and recyclables regularly scheduled for Thursday pick-up will be collected on Friday, and Friday’s scheduled pick-up will be collected on Saturday.
The Historic Architectural Review Board’s meeting set for 2:00pm on Thursday has been cancelled and all agenda items will be moved to the regularly scheduled meeting in September.
Concerts in the Plaza scheduled for Thursday evening at 7:00pm has been cancelled.
In addition, the regular meeting of the St. Augustine City Commission set for Monday, August 25 has also been cancelled because standard preparations for the meeting, including finalizing for the agenda, has been disrupted because of staff’s focused attention on storm preparations.
“These cancellations are in the interest of public safety,” said City Manager Bill Harriss. “While trash probably could be collected, having empty cans out in the open is not prudent with the anticipated winds, and we are not comfortable holding official city meetings or events when we may also be encouraging the public not to venture out.”
For more information on these cancellations, please all the Department of Public Affairs at 904.825.1004.
