Ponte Vedra residents will see a marginal increase in wastewater assessments.

St. Johns County approved an annual assessment resolution which funds the repayment of a state loan used to construct wastewater improvements in Ponte Vedra. In 2002, the County Commission created and imposed special assessments within the Ponte Vedra Wastewater Assessment Area to fund construction improvements which eliminated the use of septic tanks and provided property owners in the area with a central vacuum wastewater collection system.

Land Management Director Mary Ann Blount said the tax rolls need to be recertified for the tax collector each year.

"We have to verify that all the folks are still on the tax roll," she said. "It’s nothing drastic."

Residents in Phase I will see an increase of 79 cents on their assessment from last year. Residents in Phase II will see an increase of $1.06 over last year.
