The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens presents Jazz ABZ

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens presents Jazz ABZ: An A to Z Collection of Jazz Portraits by Paul Rogers with poems by Wynton Marsalis on January 20, 2010.  The exhibition, on view through August 8, 2010, features 27 paintings of famous Jazz musicians by Paul Rogers.

Brown Bag Lunch

From noon to 1 p.m. the GTM Research Reserve will host its brown bag lunch lecture at the South Ponte Vedra Beach Civic Association building located at 2724 South Ponte Vedra Blvd (A1A), a few blocks south of the GTM Environmental Education Center. Speaker will be Andrew Thornton, Field Biologist, formerly with the GTM Research Reserve and currently with the Anastasia Mosquito Control District.  Andrew will discuss the butterfly monitoring program that has been conducted on the reserve’s property over the last couple of years. There is no cost to attend the lecture.

Betty Griffin House Seeks donations

With more than 30 women and children in shelter each day large quantities of food, cleaning supplies and paper products are needed. Families in shelter need laundry detergent, bleach, diapers, paper towels and napkins. These donations can be dropped off at the Thrift Shoppe’s and will be taken to the emergency safe shelter in a confidential location. The Northwest Thrift Shoppe is in the Plantation Plaza at 616 SR 13 North. The hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.  Phone (904)230-5435 for pick up of large items. The St. Augustine Thrift Shoppe is in the Anastasia Square Plaza, at 1961 A1A South, on the corner of A1A & SR 312.  The hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Call (904)471-4716 for pick up of large items. Donations help the women, men and children who are victims of domestic and sexual abuse in St. Johns County.

Volunteers Needed At Mayo Clinic
