Rice named executive director of THE PLAYERS Championship

The PGA TOUR has named Jared Rice executive director of THE PLAYERS Championship. Rice succeeds Matt Rapp, who was recently named senior vice president of championship management.

THE PLAYERS is set to return to the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass May 9-14.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to continue growing our flagship event,” Rice said. “I have great passion for THE PLAYERS and its leading role in the Northeast Florida community. As our team advances our primary goal of elevating the events’ stature on the world’s stage, we look forward to continuing to work with the dedicated volunteers, sponsors and charities that make THE PLAYERS such an impactful showcase of our region.”

Rice joined THE PLAYERS staff in 2010 as the director of sales and marketing, and was promoted to vice president in 2016. Prior to his position with THE PLAYERS, Rice served in Business Development and Global Licensing at the PGA TOUR for four years. He joined the PGA TOUR from the Detroit Red Wings organization after having spent five years with the Walt Disney Company during their ownership of Major League Baseball’s Anaheim Angels and the NHL’s Mighty Ducks.

Hughs joins Berkshire Hathaway HSFNR

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty recently welcomed Cherie Hughs to its Ponte Vedra/Nocatee office.

A Northeast Florida resident for nearly three decades, Hughs brings to her role in-depth knowledge of the Beaches and Ponte Vedra.

“With her insider’s knowledge of the area, Cherie will be able to help each of her clients find their true home here in Northeast Florida,” said Kevin Waugaman, broker/manager of the Ponte Vedra/Nocatee office. “I am excited to see how brightly her star will shine in our company.”

FirstAtlantic Bank names Dailey vice president

Mike Dailey has joined FirstAtlantic Bank as vice president, senior commercial banker. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing new customer relationships in the bank’s targeted markets of businesses and professionals.

Dailey brings 25 years of financial services experience to his new position. He was most recently with SunTrust Bank. Dailey received a bachelor of science in business administration from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

McCranie elected partner of Nelson Mullins

The partners of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP have elected Christopher J. McCranie of the Jacksonville office to the partnership. McCranie, formerly of counsel, joined the firm in 2013 and practices with the corporate group. He focuses on real estate, real estate finance, title insurance, real estate development, general corporate, financial institutions, and mergers and acquisitions. He has additional experience in capital markets; bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights; and tax lien and escrow.

Founded in 1897, Nelson Mullins has more than 500 attorneys and other professionals, with offices in Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Kubart joins Betty Griffin Center

Kenlie Kubart is the new event coordinator at the Betty Griffin Center, a nonprofit that provides emergency shelter and services for residents experiencing domestic or sexual abuse in St. Johns County.

In her new role with the center, Kubart will assist in developing and implementing fundraising events and community activities with conjunction with other organizations and businesses – along with assisting with social media, photography and other communications projects.

Client Focused Media welcomes Mayer

Fallon Mayer has joined Client Focused Media as an account manager. Mayer will work closely with the account executive to implement marketing strategies for CFM’s clients, acting as a strategic liaison among clients, vendors and media companies.

 Mayer earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communications and multimedia journalism from the University of North Florida and most recently worked with The Florida Times-Union in a variety of capacities. She served as a marketing consultant for First Coast Magazine, was the primary e-commerce representative of Locabuy.com for the Jacksonville and St. Augustine area, and was a sales representative and managing editor for Eco Latino Magazine.
