Legendary Irish folk performers The Chieftains will perform with the Jacksonville Symphony Sunday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.

Formed in Ireland in 1962 by Paddy Moloney, the six-time Grammy Award winners have been recognized for reinventing traditional Irish music with a contemporary flair. The group’s St. Augustine appearance is part of The Chieftains’ 55th anniversary tour of the United States.

“Fifty-five years – wow, where have they gone as we’re still going strong,” Moloney said. “This tour will have all the musical force of what we’ve accumulated and achieved over the last 55 years, with a few extra gems thrown in for good measure.”

The Jacksonville Symphony will appear as special guests at the concert, accompanying The Chieftains during the second half of the performance.

Tickets for The Chieftains range from $39 to $79 and are available at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall box offices. Tickets are also available online at ticketmaster.com, all authorized TicketMaster outlets or by phone at (800) 745-3000.
