Ambrosia to perform at Alhambra Theatre & Dining

Alhambra Theatre & Dining will host five-time Grammy nominee Ambrosia May 8 at 8 p.m. as part of the theatre’s 50th anniversary season.

With roots in the California rock scene in 1970, Ambrosia had five hit singles nominated for Grammy awards, including “Biggest Part of Me,” “You’re the Only Woman,” and “How Much I Feel.” Comprised of four musicians – Joseph Puerta, Christopher North, David Pack and Burleigh Drummond – the band from the South Bay of Los Angeles is known for its blues and R&B sound influenced by progressive and classical world influences. The band was originally hailed as America’s answer to English acts like “Yes” and “King Crimson” before quickly establishing a distinctive name for themselves, going on to collaborate with artists Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Alan Parsons.

The band will perform with three of its original members in addition to guitarist and vocalist Doug Jackson, keyboardist and vocalist Mary Harris and acoustic guitarist and lead vocalist Ken Stacey. Tickets for the show are $69 and include dinner and parking. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with dinner service beginning at 6 p.m.

Alhambra Theatre & Dining is located at 12000 Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville. For show times and details, call the box office at (904) 641-1212 or visit www.alhambrajax.com/
