The Apex Theatre Studio is sponsoring its inaugural Festival of Trees event to make the halls of Ponte Vedra Concert Hall merry and bright while gathering much needed supplies for local food pantries. The event will take place Dec. 13-15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

“We are having a blast putting this together,” said Ian Mairs, managing director of the Apex Theatre Studio Inc. which is presenting the stage adaptation of “A Christmas Story,” based on the beloved classic film featuring Ralphie and his friends the weekend of the festival.

Local businesses have taken on a tree to decorate with a particular theme or twist. Visitors are asked to come and check out the rows of trees installed in the inner lobby and vote for their favorite tree by placing a canned good or non-perishable item under the selected tree.

“This is our third year of producing holiday programs in this wonderfully intimate venue. We wanted to offer support to local food banks as the winter approaches,” Mairs said. “We have a delightful selection of entries which include a Rock and Roll tree sponsored by the Friends of Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, a tree with a nautical theme rendered by the St. Augustine Lighthouse, and a Harry Potter themed tree created by the faculty of the Apex Theatre Studio.”
