Arbor Terrace Ponte Vedra welcomes new senior care counselor

Arbor Terrace Ponte Vedra recently welcomed Ann Terrell as its new senior care counselor.

Terrell boasts an extensive background in assisted living and memory care that began when she was just 16. Having first started as a dishwasher during her after school job at a memory care community in her native Iowa, Terrell said she fell in love with the personalities of the residents and the prospect of helping people and their families make what often seemed to be a daunting transition. She continued to build experience in almost every aspect of skilled nursing and assisted living as she pursued a degree in public relations and marketing from the University of Iowa. Upon the completion of her degree in 2008, she moved first to Kansas City, Missouri then to Jacksonville, where she has lived for just over a year.

In her new role, Terrell acts as the first point of contact for families and residents considering Arbor Terrace, a position she hopes will make the transition into assisted living as smooth as possible.

“As senior care counselor, I’ll be meeting with all of the family members and acting as a resource and support system for them,” Terrell said. “I want to bring them ease and comfort, and I want the families and residents to know that we’re providing the best care here.”

As a member of the team since Feb. 6, Terrell looks forward to being able to explain the community’s offerings, acting as a support system while helping families coordinate the move of their loved ones, and welcoming new residents to what she calls a “big family” at Arbor Terrace.

“We love what we do and our team of directors have so much combined experience,” Terrell said. “They’re our heart. And everyone is here to ensure that our residents are taken care of.

“I want our families to know that their loved ones are in the best place,” she added. “So, what I’m most looking forward to is giving them the peace of mind of knowing that they are safe.”
