Chemo Noir raises nearly $3,000 at event at Coastal Wine

Chemo Noir, a local nonprofit organization that provides financial support for cancer patients undergoing treatment, raised nearly $3,000 at its annual CRUSH Cancer event at Coastal Wine Market & Tasting Room on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Attendees enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting and raffle, as well as the opportunity to learn more about Chemo Noir, which was founded by Nease graduate and cancer survivor Katrin Casey. Cancer-free for the last four years, Casey named her organization after a night designated for leisure time with her mother, featuring comfort food and wine.

"Chemo Noir resulted out of my journey with cancer,” Casey said in a previous interview with Recorder reporter Benjamin Naim. “I was going through treatment; it's such a surreal experience. When my mom would come over, I'd get a chance to sip on a little wine and I'd call them my ‘chemo noir’ nights.”

Chemo Noir raises money through wine-centric events to help cancer patients pay their way through treatment. For more information on the nonprofit, visit www.chemonoir.com.
