On Friday, Sept. 21, Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s "Caring for the Military/Veteran Caregiver" family conference welcomed caregivers and caregiving experts who presented on topics relevant to the experience of caring for veterans of any age.

The conference was held at WJCT Public Broadcasting in Jacksonville. Topics for the 2018 conference included “Supporting Our Hidden Heroes: The Military Caregiver Journey, “Operation Family Caregiver: Supporting Military Caregivers,” “VA Healthcare Benefits and City of Jacksonville VA Services.”

“There is help out there, for times of depression, when you’re having anxiety, when you feel alone,” said Jennifer Mackinday, caregiver of her younger brother James, an Army veteran who joined the military after 9/11 and sustained multiple serious injuries during his service. “There are people and services to help.”
