Danny Wuerffel unites Gator, Bulldog greats for Desire Cup at TPC Sawgrass

Famed University of Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel recently brought together a group of former Gator and University of Georgia Bulldog players to compete in the eighth annual Desire Cup golf tournament at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. 

Presented by Pilgrim’s and held Oct. 25-26, the Desire Cup was established around the rivalry between the Florida and Georgia football programs that takes place every year in Jacksonville. Proceeds from the golf tournament benefitted Desire Street Ministries, a nonprofit organization in which Wuerffel serves as executive director and that works to revitalize impoverished neighborhoods through spiritual and community development.

This year’s group of tournament celebrities/participants included Wuerffel, Steve Spurrier, Lito Sheppard, Shane Matthews, Ahmad Black, Musa Smith, Lindsay Scott and Champ Bailey, among others.
