Four Del Webb residents and THE PLAYERS Championship volunteers were named winners of the tournament’s PGA Tour Volunteer Challenge last weekend.

The “Dreams” team consisting of Riverwood Men’s Club members Howard Killgo, Thomas Kinney, Dennis Craft and Reed Henley garnered the most support in the online competition, with 781 votes. With its victory, the group earned the opportunity to present a $10,000 check to The First Tee of North Florida, a youth development organization that focuses on strengthening youth core values and life skills through golf. The team also was awarded $2,500 from THE PLAYERS Championship to donate to Dreams Come True of Jacksonville, which supports children battling life-threatening illnesses.

Co-created by pharmaceutical company Astellas and the PGA Tour in 2015, the challenge is a friendly competition among participating tournaments and their volunteers designed to recognize the commitment and passion of volunteers while also raising money for local charities.

The challenge for THE PLAYERS Championship was open for more than 75 days, inviting fans to vote for their favorite volunteer groups online. THE PLAYERS Championship First Vice Chairman Damon Olinto received the challenge’s second most votes, with 364.
