Design and Composition of Plein Air Painting

Randy Pitts

Skill Level: All

This two day plein air workshop is for oil painters of all skill levels. A successful painting begins with a solid design foundation. The workshop objective is to give the artist the design skills necessary to go beyond simply trying to reproduce what nature gives us. Students will work directly from the landscape on location. Through the use of quick sketches, demonstrations, and individualized help at the student's easel, the student will learn about solid design principles, the clarification of their concept, the simplification of shapes, and the pattern of light and shadow. Students will come away with a better understanding of what makes a good painting. Location TBD

March 25-26, 2017 10am – 4pm | Members: $235 | Non-members: $275 | Or $50 Non-refundable Deposit to Hold Your Spot
