It is amazing what changing the color of a room can have on the look of the space and the feeling you get. I recently listed a wonderful condo at the Carlyle across from the ocean in Ponte Vedra Beach. The former owner had designed an elegant space that was warm and inviting. It was the perfect style and design where she entertained her many friends and family. 

As the new year approached, I suggested a new direction and a new design, and our mission was to design to sell.

According to an article in Forbes Magazine, “the practice of redecorating a home to attract buyers is not new, but in recent years it has grown in prominence.”

My objective was simply to create a new look with fresh paint, updated, clean, crisp furniture and a simplistic vibe to the décor. My goal was to create a coastal contemporary look that attracts buyers and sells homes!

Creating a buyer connection, with neutral, natural colors, helps set the stage for the buyer to imagine themselves in that space. 

Start by creating a clean, neutral appearance that strives for camera ready classy, making your home more appealing to buyers. Strive for the ultimate outcome of staging your home to look like the beautiful homes you read in magazines or see on HGTV!

Aim for the seamless and sophisticated look when choosing a paint color and remember to paint adjacent rooms the same color.

Every day we are offered free design ideas from Joanna and Chip Gaines to the Property Brothers. They give us the vision and the plan to turn ordinary and out of style living spaces into extraordinary designs for our life. 

We all become accustomed to the look they create and when buyers first go shopping online for a home, they want nothing but the best and what they see every day on TV.

So, the best advice I give to my clients is this: Put your best foot forward and do some updates that place your home in the center of the listings that buyers want to see.

One of my go-to paint colors is Sherwin-Williams’ pure white. It allows a room to shine and highlights the features and furniture we want to stand out. It appeals to young and old and accommodates all design styles from traditional to contemporary!

I used this color in the foyer of my Carlyle condo. We removed the elegant-striped wallpaper and painted the wall the pure white along with the trim. The living room was next, and the former yellow walls were painted two coats of white. The white slipcovered sofas and chairs and blue accents with art, pillows and rugs tied together the coastal contemporary look we envisioned.

With our staging done, this beautiful condo is designed to sell!
