First Coast Airbnb hosts earn more than $440,000 during THE PLAYERS Championship

First Coast homeowners earned more than $440,000 through Airbnb during THE PLAYERS Championship 2017, hosting more than 1,300 guests during the tournament, the online hospitality service reported.

Ponte Vedra Beach residents hosted 184 guests, Airbnb reported, generating $80,000 for the hosts who provided lodging during THE PLAYERS. Jacksonville Beach hosts provided accommodations for 258 guests – generating $102,000 for hosts – while 22 guests stayed in Atlantic Beach, earning $3,000 for hosts.

Jacksonville welcomed 843 Airbnb guests, with hosts there earning $256,000.

“Home sharing significantly enhanced THE PLAYERS’ economic impact on Jacksonville,” said Tom Martinelli, policy director of Airbnb Florida. “Our host community stepped up in a big way to serve as ambassadors for their community as the eyes of the golf world turned to Northern Florida.”
