The Florida Chamber Music Project (FCMP) will perform a concert celebrating America on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

This second concert of the season will feature a pre-concert presentation by the Matanzas Voices at 2:30 p.m. with the musical portion of the program beginning at 3 p.m. The FCMP will play O’Connor’s String Quartet No. 3, “Old Time,” and Dvorak’s “American Quartet” String Quartet No. 12 in F major.

The Matanzas Voices is an oral history project documenting life and work on the Matanzas River. The group tells the story of the diverse communities that lived there creating the connection between the past and future.

“It’s wonderful to be able to present Mark O’Connor’s adventurous third quartet with Antonin Dvorak’s tried and true ‘American’ quartet,” FCMP Artistic Director and Violinist Susan Pardue said.  “They are two very different takes on American music.”

A reception will follow the concert where concert attendees can meet the members of the Chamber Ensemble, Matanzas Voices and St. Augustine Historical Society.

Show tickets may be purchased at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Offices, all Ticketmaster outlets, individual ticket purchase link and by phone at (800) 745-3000.

FCMP was founded five years ago. Joining Pardue in the group are violinists Patrice Evans, Anna Genest and Annie Hertler and cellist Laurie Casseday. All are members of the Jacksonville Symphony.
