Former home of renowned St. Augustine artist for sale

Posted

The historic home formerly owned by famous St. Augustine artist Celia Gregor Reid has been renovated and is now ready for its new owners.

Located at 2 Fletcher Lane in Old St. Augustine, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home has a screened-in porch, a fenced yard, covered off-street parking and is within walking distance of all the go-to destinations in the city. A one-story frame vernacular style, the house was constructed in 1927 in the D.H. Cherry subdivision on the fringes of older Victorian neighborhoods. Parts of the porch and columns were made from locally produced coquina concrete block.

One of the four houses that survived on Fletcher Lane during World War I, the house was first inhabited by John M.T. Reid, a cost engineer for Florida East Coast Railroad, and his wife Celia G. Reid, an accomplished graphic artist and president of the St. Augustine Arts Club. Her work is discussed in the book “Lost Colony: The Artists of St. Augustine 1930-1950” by Robert W. Torchia.

Now updated with new roofing, air conditioning, electrical, bathrooms, kitchen and more, the home is move-in ready. For more information, call Janie Coffey of The Coffey Team at (904) 525-1008.
