A Ponte Vedra Beach resident died in a four-car crash on I-95 on Saturday, Dec. 1, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Tyler Duane Lowery, 21, was reportedly traveling south on I-95 in a 2009 Nissan approaching the Race Track Road overpass just north of County Road 210. According to FHP, he entered into the center median between two guard rails, struck the guard rail and a concrete pillar that supports the overpass before overturning back out into the southbound lanes. Two vehicles involved in the crash could not avoid the Nissan, while another vehicle traveling south on I-95 avoided the Nissan but lost control as it traveled onto the south shoulder and into the wood line area.

According to FHP, Lowery later died at Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The other drivers and passengers involved in the accident were not injured. An investigation is still ongoing at this time.
