Gateway Council announces St. Johns County Women of Distinction honorees

Girl Scouts of Gateway Council recently announced the Women of Distinction 2018 honorees for St. Johns County.

The Women of Distinction award recognizes local women for their professional accomplishments, service to others and community impact. Northeast and North Central Florida’s Girl Scout council will honor the local female leaders at the upcoming 2018 Women of Distinction fundraising luncheon Sept. 27.  

This year, six female leaders will be honored. The women nominated exemplify the Girl Scouts’ core values of honesty, fairness, caring, responsibility, service to others and community, inclusivity, respect and sisterhood. The 2018 honorees are:

·       Kelly Barrera, St. Johns County School Board

·       Joann Johnson, social worker, retired

·       Michelle Lewis, research scholar

·       Martha Mickler, educator, retired

·       Lura Readle-Scarpitti, media professional

·       Kelly Youngs, She is Fierce!

The St. Johns County 2018 Women of Distinction fundraising luncheon will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Casa Monica Hotel located at 95 Cordova St. in St. Augustine.
