Harlem Legends defeat St. Johns County All Stars at PVHS

The St. Johns County All Stars came up short on the scoreboard against the Harlem Legends on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS). The score did not matter, however, because everyone in attendance was well entertained.

Harlem Legends showman Michael “Memphis” Douglas kept the antics going through-out the show, interacting with the audience and making tricks shots and his patented granny shot from long distance. Before the show, the Legends conducted their Shoot for the Stars Basketball Clinic for 40 kids. Other Legends with Douglas included Tyrone “Hollywood” Brown, Trey “Smooth” Moore, Tyrone Mr. T. Randolph, Larry “Shorty” Coleman, Antoine Jones and referee Jimmy Bolden.

The St. Johns County All Stars included Phil Tensley, Antwoin Conerly, Paul Stallings, Will Blackwell and Meagan Wheeler of the YMCA; Billy Zeits of the St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Department; Sterling Joyce of Casa Marina; Jerry Blount of Ocean Palms Elementary School; Edward Houston of St. Johns County Fire Rescue; Bob Mitchell; Corey Yates of Stellar Concepts; Kasey Yates of PepsiCo; Zachary Strom of Palm Valley Academy; and Travis Brown of St. Augustine High School.

The Harlem Legends plan to come back to Ponte Vedra with their Shoot for the Stars Basketball Camps and Clinics for boys and girls in the future. The Harlem Legends appear at schools, churches and organizations to help promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle.  If you are interested in scheduling the Harlem Legends at your event, call (678) 630-8843.
