Holiday Tour of Homes in St. Augustine on Dec. 3 to highlight Flagler Era

Posted

The Garden Club of St. Augustine will hold its annual Tour of Homes from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.

The theme of this year’s tour is “Christmas in the Flagler Era,” a tribute to Henry Morrison Flagler. A man of culture and vision, Flagler transformed a sleepy coastal town into the winter resort of America’s wealthy. His buildings, roadways and fountains still grace much of St. Augustine.

The 10 garden circles, which comprise the St. Augustine Garden Club, are decorating six homes in the historic downtown district, dating from the Flagler period. The homes consist of two on Marine Street and one each on St. George Street, Saragossa Street, Bridge Street and Riberia Street, decoated with floral arrangements and holiday greenery that reflect Flagler’s style and elegance.

Tickets are still available at the following locations (cash or checks only):

■ Carter’s Jewelry, Anastasia Publix Plaza

■ Flowers by Shirley, U.S. 1 N.

■ Leonardi’s Nursery, Anastasia Boulevard

■ Tre Sebastian, Anastasia Boulevard

■ Whetstone Chocolates, Anastasia Boulevard

■ Southern Horticulture, A1A

Tickets are $30 and include transportation provided by Old Town Trolley, which starts from the City Parking Garage at noon. Some walking will be required in the historic district, and trolley service will not be available after 4 p.m. An afternoon tea and holiday boutique will be held at the River House on Marine Street, featuring handmade crafts and home-baked cookies by the Garden Club of St. Augustine.
