Providence Homes is nearing completion on a new home which, when complete, will raise more than $100,000 for a program that provides free construction and repair services for seniors and those with disabilities.
Located at 29 Skywood Trail in The Crossing at Twenty Mile, the 2,800 square-foot “Home from the Heart” will feature four bedrooms, three bathrooms and be 100 percent ENERGY STAR Certified. Proceeds from the sale of the “Home from the Heart” house will go to Builders Care, a faith-based nonprofit that provides affordable to no-cost construction and repair services to seniors, people with disabilities and other Northeast Florida nonprofits.
According to Providence Homes, the goal is to establish the campaign as a model for other builders to create more “Homes for the Heart,” and for the campaign to become a major fund raiser for Builders Care annually.
“As a faith-driven company ourselves, we are humbled by the opportunity to give the profit from the sale of one of our homes to such a deserving company,” said Sean Junker, president of Providence Homes. “Builders Care does amazing work in our community for those in need and we are happy to be a part of their impactful efforts.”
As the charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA), Builders Care combines purchased and donated material with volunteer and professional labor to provide cost-efficient construction to those in need. Since its founding in October of 2001, the nonprofit has renovated more than 600 houses, providing specialized installations for handicapped-accessible home additions, general repairs, painting, and installing heating and air conditioning. Those efforts have totaled approximately $6.5 million worth of fair market value construction.
“The amount of money Providence Homes anticipates raising for Builders Care is enough for us to repair four roofs and build two wheelchair ramps each month for a year,” said Justin Brown of Builders Care. “(Founder) Bill Cellar and Sean Junker have huge hearts; it’s amazing to see them use their company as a platform to help so many.”
