Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens hosts ZOOLights

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is again hosting ZOOLights this year to celebrate the holiday season.

The Zoo setting offers a unique holiday light experience Dec. 14 through Jan. 5 (closed Christmas Day), after kicking off Dec. 7-9. Guests at ZOOLights can enjoy cool weather festivities such as sipping hot chocolate, roasting marshmallows for s’mores, taking a ride on the illuminated train and getting a holiday picture with Santa.

This year, ZOOLights is debuting the Jingle Bell Jukebox Revenue to help celebrate the holiday spirit. A lively performance of festive songs performed by local artists will take place on the Great Lawn with nightly shows.

In addition to the regular festivities, ZOOlights offers themed nights. From Dec. 21-23, the Zoo will host a tacky Christmas sweater event. Star Wars night is on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Admission starts at $8 for members, $10 for non-members and children ages 2 and younger are free. The event will be held 6 to 9:30 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday and 6 to 10 p.m. on weekends.

ZOOLights is presented by Community First Credit Union. The Zoo will continue to have regular park hours each day, closing at 5 p.m., and re-opening at 6 p.m.
