Golfer Philip Loeb has capped a stellar year with postseason honors.

The Elon University sophomore was named to the all-Colonial Athletic Association second team. The Ponte Vedra Beach resident led the team with a 73.48 stroke average.

He was named the team’s most valuable player at the school’s spring athletics banquet.

More men’s golf

LaGrange College senior Logan Lanier won the USA South Conference tournament. The Bartram Trail High School graduate shot a 209 (70-70-69) to win by three strokes. He is an all-conference first-team selection, leading the conference with a 70.8 stroke average. He is a semifinalist for the Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award.

Men’s lacrosse

Junior attack Dalton Cook of Catawba College is an all-South Atlantic Conference honorable mention pick. The former Bear was one of two Catawba players recognized. He finished with 36 points, second on the team, in starting all 16 games.

Jacksonville University midfielder Eric Applegate was named May 1 as the Southern Conference offensive player of the week. Out of Ponte Vedra High, he was cited for his career-high seven points against Bellarmine University. He was second on the team with 34 points through 14 games.

Men’s tennis

University of Connecticut sophomore Hank Hill had an 11-9 overall record playing at the fourth through sixth singles spots. The Ponte Vedra High product was 14-12 overall in doubles play, mainly at No. 2.

Women’s golf

Purdue University senior August Kim is an all-Big Ten Conference first-team selection. The Allen D. Nease graduate led the team with a 72.24 stroke average.

Women’s lacrosse

Piedmont College senior Blake Forrest was named to the all-USA South Conference first team. The Nease graduate started all 18 games in goal and had a 9-8 record. She led the conference with 125 saves and ranked fourth with a 10.76 goals against average.

Also from Nease, Piedmont midfielder Jenna Smith was named to the all-conference second team. The senior finished with 47 points, 10th in the conference.
