Briggs Hurley has been recognized for his soccer play.      

The Principia College senior midfielder was named to the All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference second team. The Ponte Vedra High School graduate started each of the 16 games he played and finished with one goal and three assists.

 

More men's soccer

University of North Florida's Josh Castellanos was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference second team. The Allen D. Nease graduate finished with four goals, including a team-best two game winners, in starting 13 of the 15 games he played. He was named the conference player of the week Oct. 30 after scoring three times in two games.

Pavan Ramachandria started one of the five games he played for Rhodes College. The freshman forward played for Nease.


Baseball

Justin Smith batted .250 in 33 games for the Atlanta Braves' Danville affiliate. Out of Bartram Trail, Smith hit three home runs and drove in 11 runs for the rookie club. The outfielder participated in the organization's fall instructional league.

 

Men's swimming

Saint Leo University junior Clayton Howerton won the 200-yard backstroke against Rollins College. The former Bartram Bear placed third in the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley.

Nease graduate Carmine Raimondi is a Skidmore College freshman specializing in the freestyle and butterfly.

 

Women's cross country       

Sydne Grier finished fifth among Florida International University's entries at the Conference USA Championship. The Bartram Trail graduate finished the 5K in 19 minutes, 39.73 seconds.

 

Women's swimming

Centre College sophomore Cat Gleason placed second in the 1,000 freestyle against University of the Cumberlands. The Ponte Vedra Beach native was third in the 500 freestyle.

Lafayette College sophomore Emily Benson was seventh in the 200 butterfly against Loyola. The former Shark was seventh in the 500 freestyle.

Denison University sophomore Samantha Price, who competed for the Sharks, finished sixth in the 200 butterfly against Eastern Michigan.
