Landrum student wins silver medal at Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards

Landrum Middle School student Grayson Rigby won a silver medal for his book, "Expedition to the Galapagos Islands," at the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards on Saturday, Nov. 10 in Traverse City, Michigan.

The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards, which recognizes children's books in 42 different categories, is open to authors and publishers worldwide.

Rigby won the silver medal in the "Best book by Youth Author" category. Additionally, he participated in the Traverse City Children's Book Festival at the historical City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. The event, which celebrated children's literacy, was open to the public and featured kids activities, games, a puppet show, face painting and crafts. Rigby spoke to kids and parents about his book and sold copies.
