Award winning author, journalist and St. Augustine resident Andrew Nagorski will discuss his latest book, “The Nazi Hunters,” in a free presentation to be held April 23 at 2 p.m. at Temple Bet Yam in St. Augustine.
Nagorski’s book reveals the experiences of a number of key figures in the decades-long battle to bring Nazi war criminals to justice, including the young American prosecutors at the Nuremberg trials; a Polish investigating judge who handled the case of an Auschwitz commandant; Germany’s judge and prosecutor who repeatedly forced his countrymen to confront their country’s record of mass murder; the Mossad agent who led the Israeli team that captured Adolf Eichmann; and the head of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigations, who belatedly sought to expel war criminals living quietly in the United States.
Nagorski’s discussion will focus on the archival research and numerous interviews he conducted for the book, which is available online. Hard copies will be available for a book signing at the presentation.
