Several student athletes from local high schools recently signed their letters of intent to further their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Nease celebrated the accomplishments of six student athletes at the high school’s spring signing day ceremony April 24. Attended by family, coaches and friends, the event kicked off with the recognition of boy’s lacrosse players Mason Combs, Sean Howard and Tyler Schaffer. Combs pledged his official commitment to University of Montevallo, while Howard signed to play at Florida Southern College and Schaffer committed to Mercer University.

Nease then recognized baseball players Collin Garner and Patrick Irish, who are headed to Brown University and West Point respectively. The event concluded with Panthers soccer player Pavan Ramachandria committing to Rhodes College.

At Ponte Vedra High School, meanwhile, Sharks senior Sara McKevitt signed her national letter of intent April 19 to play golf at University of South Florida. Sharks girl’s golf coach Clint Finlay hosted the signing, which was attended by McKevitt’s parents, teammates and other friends. The Ponte Vedra student athlete is the school’s first female golfer to sign for a Division 1 golf team in Florida.

Earlier in April, Ponte Vedra Beach residents Ally Hajda, Jamie Brophy and Graham Ungrady were among 14 Bolles School student athletes honored for signing their letters of intent. Family, friends, classmates, coaches and faculty filled McGehee Auditorium on the school’s San Jose campus April 12 as Hajda committed to run cross country/track at Brown University, Brophy signed to play football at Ave Maria University and Ungrady pledged to swim at West Point.
