Man suffers significant injuries in car accident on Palm Valley Road

A multi-vehicle car accident on Friday, April 20 on Palm Valley Road in Ponte Vedra resulted in a life-threatening injury and the subsequent closure of the road for approximately five hours.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO), Jarred Michael Ventura was traveling west on Palm Valley Road in his Ford F-150 when he crossed the center of the road just east of the Palm Valley Bridge and entered the eastbound lane, ultimately striking several vehicles. SJSO Public Information Officer Chuck Mulligan said Ventura was transported to UF Health Jacksonville via helicopter due to the severity of his injuries. The 31-year-old, noted Mulligan, remains in critical condition. No other information about Ventura has been released.

The public information officer said four vehicles and a total of six people were involved in the crash. Ventura, who was found by SJSO trapped in his vehicle, was the only one to have suffered severe injuries.

SJSO’s investigation of the crash is ongoing.
