Multiple people are dead and wounded after a mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing Sunday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

The shooting took place during a Madden videogame tournament at a restaurant in the popular riverfront area in downtown Jacksonville. JSO Sheriff Mike Williams said in a press conference at 4:30 p.m. that the lone suspect in the incident is deceased. Williams said the suspect is a white male, but did not release any other details. There are no other outstanding suspects.

Williams noted there are deceased victims and some receiving treatment at area hospitals. The JSO sheriff did not confirm the number of fatalities or injuries. He said his team is now working on relaying information to families of the victims.

Williams encouraged witnesses or other people with information/videos to share it with JSO. People are discouraged from going downtown as the investigation continues.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry echoed that message on Twitter, saying "Please follow the Sheriff's instructions and avoid downtown tonight."

Florida Gov. Rick Scott tweeted that he has spoken with President Donald Trump regarding the shooting, and the president has offered any federal resources to respond. Scott also said via Twitter he has spoken with Curry and Williams and offered state support and resources. According to Scott, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is on the scene.

Scott announced via Twitter that he's headed to Jacksonville to meet with local law enforcement.
