Nease head football coach Tim Krause is leaving the Panthers to take the head coaching position at Bishop Kenny High School.
Krause, who has coached at Nease since 2014, was an assistant at Bishop Kenny for eight years, including seven as offensive coordinator.
“My family and I are really excited about going back to Bishop Kenny as it has been a special place for us,” Krause said in an email to the Recorder. “I get the chance to work for a principal and athletic director who I have had a great relationship with for a long time and build upon an established program with great tradition. BK is the perfect fit for me at this point in my life and I can’t wait to get started.”
Krause, who led the Panthers to the district championship in 2015, will take over the Crusaders’ program March 1, replacing Bobby Raulerson.
“I have truly enjoyed working at Nease and I am going to miss the relationships I had forged with our players and staff,” Krause said. “I am leaving there incredibly grateful for the opportunity and I know that those kids will be extremely successful going forward. I owe a debt of gratitude to our athletic director, Matt McCool, who has worked tirelessly to make improvements to our facilities and get our coaches whatever they needed to be successful.”
Over the past three years, Krause has also led Nease’s Victory Day event, which offers students with special needs from area elementary schools the opportunity to participate in drills and spend quality time with Nease football players and staff. Krause said he hopes to start a similar tradition or program at Bishop Kenny.
McCool said the search for a new head coach is in the process and the school is looking for someone who possesses similar qualities to Krause, particularly when it comes to character.
“We want somebody who’s going to be involved with our young people on more than just a football level,” McCool said. “We’re looking for an upstanding person first, and a coach second.”
