Nease High School hosted a special ceremony last Thursday, Nov. 15, to celebrate seven student athletes signing their letters of intent to play collegiate sports.

Logan Underwood, who made a commitment to continue his education and golf career at University of North Florida, thanked his parents for pushing him to get better.

"They've been really supportive of me and helping me get through tough times," he said. "I'd like to thank them. I'd like to thank my coach for keeping us really organized. My swing coach, he has helped me get to the next level. He got me a lot better."

Underwood went on to thank his family and friends, whom he credited for helping him get to this point.

Camille Hobby, who will play basketball at NC State, said that signing her letter intent was the culmination of a really long journey.

"I'm not the type of person to cry in front of people, but I'm just really excited for this opportunity," Hobby said as she began to get emotional. "I want to take this time to thank my parents for supporting me."

Hobby, fighting back tears, also thanked her coaches for helping her improve and make significant accomplishments in the sport. The Nease High School basketball player averaged 14.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks this year.

Jacob Satterfield, who officially committed to the Coker College wrestling program, thanked his parents and his trainer for supporting him through the years.

"I want to thank my trainer for helping me out in the offseason to get stronger," Satterfield said. "I want to thank my coaches for helping me and leading me and guiding my way."

Mykah Eshbaugh, who officially committed to play volleyball at Fort Hays State, said she is excited for the opportunity to be a collegiate athlete.

"I want to thank everyone that's here and everyone that's with me in spirit," she said. "And my coaches, the millions of people that I wish can hear me say this but can't. Thank you everyone."

Bella Kober, a soccer player who signed on to play at the University of South Florida, emphasized the importance of her teammates during her speech.

"I want to thank my teammates for putting me in an environment where I can thrive," she said. "I wouldn't be the player I am today without you guys."

Other students who were recognized at the event were Jared Whittle, who will play baseball at Coker College, and Sarah Shely, who will play soccer at Troy University.
