The Nease NJROTC program hosted national military signing day April 25 for the high school’s graduating seniors, who received appointments to U.S. service academies or full ROTC scholarships at public universities.
The following six cadets signed their letters of intent during a formal ceremony held on campus that was attended by family, teachers and classmates.
Dane Barber of Ponte Vedra: Navy ROTC at University of Colorado
Ryan Berry of St. Johns: U.S. Naval Academy
Christopher Berta of Ponte Vedra: Navy ROTC at University of Auburn
Jaysa Ligon of St. Augustine: Army ROTC at University of Alabama
Brian Swicegood of St. Augustine: U.S. Air Force Academy
Cali Vaughn of St. Augustine: Marine Corps ROTC at University of Auburn
“These young men and women represent the absolute finest ideals in America’s youth,” said Capt. Scott LaRochelle, Nease’s senior naval science instructor. “I could not be more proud of them and their achievements. They earned it.”
Nease NJROTC has been the top rated NJROTC program in Area-12 (northern Florida and the state of Georgia) from 2012-2016.
