The annual Psych Ed Connections Turkey Trot & Parade took to Nocatee for a second helping this Thanksgiving, raising more than $2,000 to benefit St. Johns CARES.

This year, more than 450 racers registered for the 5K, 10K and Fun Run and participated in a decorated golf cart parade. The race’s turkey mascot, “Nockey McTrotter,” also made his debut.

Despite soggy and chilly conditions, more than 100 participants walked, ran or waded their way to the finish line. All received a congratulatory medal, and top finishers received additional prizes.

Local businesses also came together to support the event, including Fun4FirstCoastKids.com, which sponsored the Fun Run. CrosswaterConnect.com led the parade portion, during which kids waved yellow pompoms, courtesy of Bright Smiles Pediatric Dentistry. Other local business sponsors included Trader Joe’s, Woolsey & Morcom Attorneys, Anytime Fitness, Ponte Vedra Golf Carts and Ponte Vedra Pediatric Dentistry.

St. Johns CARES is a nonprofit organization committed to helping St. Johns County charities and those in need. Proceeds of the event went toward the nonprofit’s annual Giving Tree initiative, which collects donations throughout the holiday season for more than 40 local charities.
