The Oil Painters of America (OPA) will hold the “Virtuosos of the OPA” exhibition at Cutter & Cutter Fine Art in St. Augustine March 1 – 31.

Artists, collectors and art enthusiasts will find several recognizable names in this nationally and internationally acclaimed group of oil painters. All these artists have achieved OPA’s Master Signature or Signature designation, a distinction only awarded to the very best artists who have gone through a rigorous vetting process.

OPA’s membership is comprised of over 3,600 artists from across the United States, Canada and Mexico. This exhibition will include approximately 150 paintings by some of OPA’s most renowned members. Total awards for this exhibition will be approximately $10,000 in cash and merchandise. Internationally acclaimed artist Daniel E. Greene will serve as the juror of awards.

Greene is one of America’s leading figure, portrait and still-life painters. His portrait subjects have been leaders of government, banking, education, industry, royalty and the arts. His works hang in more than 700 public and private collections. In 1995, the American Society of Portrait Artists honored Greene with the John Singer Sargent Award for lifelong dedication to the achievement of excellence in portraiture. In 2017, a biography was published about Greene’s work titled “Daniel E. Greene, Studios and Subways, An American Master, His Life and Art.” He is the subject of two 2018 Museum Retrospective exhibitions at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio and the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut.

An opening reception and award ceremony will be held for artists, collectors and the public on Friday, March 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Cutter & Cutter Fine Art, located at 25 King St. in St. Augustine. Awards will be announced at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free, and all paintings will be for sale.
