The Jacksonville Business Journal recognized Peter Reynoldsthe managing partner of Ponte Vedra Beach-based Pivot CPAsas a recipient of the newspaper’s “Ultimate CEO” award at an Oct. 14 ceremony at EverBank Field.

The Business Journal selects its recipients for the awards based on leadership, company growth and community involvement. Other recipients in the mid-sized category included Nelson Bradshaw of BBVA Companies, Rory Diamond of Ponte Vedra-based K9s for Warriors and J.Peter Wilking of A1A Solar.

In his remarks, Business Journal's Managing Editor Timothy Gibbons lauded Reynolds for his leadership in growing the Pivot CPAs firm by 45 percent over the last five years. He also congratulated the “Ultimate CEO” award winner for leading the firm through a rebranding process and developing a culture that promotes a work-life balance and deep-rooted community involvement.

“It is not often that the CEO of an accounting firm is even put in the position to earn such accolades," Reynolds said. "Accountants by nature stay in the background, so it was a fun challenge to take our team through this process.”

The culture shift process included a series of focus groups with clients, former clients and employees, all helping to identify the core mission of the business.

“We learned that our clients see us not just as skilled accountants who can make their numbers add up, but as a true business resource," Reynolds added. “To a person they all said we play a more pivotal role than we maybe even gave ourselves credit for.  The name 'Pivot' was born out of those conversations.”

During his acceptance speech, Reynolds also credited the Pivot staff, his business partners, family and clients for his award.
