Improvements are coming to The Plantation and Ponte Vedra Beach, and members kicked off the newest project with a night of community celebration in September.

On Sept. 19, approximately 400 members of The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach attended a special Golf Course Groundbreaking Celebration. Members enjoyed a variety of food and beverages, live music and dancing. The highlight of the event was a bulldozer and tractor race down the 18th fairway which provided great entertainment and laughter.

“We were delighted to see the majority of our members attend this event,” said Rob Schlingmann, General Manager at The Plantation. “The Plantation is a truly special community.”

The golf course revitalization is a $6 million dollar project in which the greens, tees and bunkers will be rebuilt, the drainage system will be upgraded and a new irrigation system will be installed. The golf course will reopen in October of 2016.

The golf course revitalization is one of three initiatives that make up The Plantation’s Facilities Improvement Plan. An amenities park, Plantation Commons, is underway and will be home to The Plantation’s newest sport, Croquet and will also include a playground and pavilion. In addition, The Beach House will be undergoing significant renovations this winter.

Enthusiasm for the project was clear with the huge attendance at the kickoff of the revitalization.

“This event was one of the highest attended events at The Plantation in years,” Schlingmann said.

The Plantation is a private residential neighborhood in Ponte Vedra Beach with amenities including a championship golf course, private beach club, tennis facility, fitness center and a clubhouse with dining and social activities for all ages.
