Ponte Vedra Beach resident Quang Pham is a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Florida. Pham is the chief executive officer of Jacksonville’s Espero BioPharma, Inc.

The awards program, which was founded and produced by Ernst & Young LLP 31 years ago, recognizes entrepreneurs who are excelling in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Pham was selected as a finalist by a panel of independent judges. Award winners will be announced at a special gala on June 23 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate.

“I am honored to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award,” said Pham, who is the only entrepreneur selected from Jacksonville this year. “Our team works diligently every day to bring the best in class medications to patients living with cardiovascular disease, the number one cause of death worldwide.”

Espero is a biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing innovative medicines addressing major unmet needs in cardiovascular diseases.

Under Pham’s leadership, Espero has secured three FDA-approved cardiovascular drugs: NITROLINGUAL® PUMPSPRAY, GONITRO™ (acute relief of an attack or prophylaxis of angina pectoris), DURLAZA® (to reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes or death in high-risk patients such as those with diabetes and cardiovascular disease), tecarfarin (anti-coagulant) in phase 3 and budiodarone (anti-arrhythmia) in phase 2, pending the closing of the merger with Armetheon, Inc.

Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year national competition, which will announce its winner at a Nov. 18 gala in Palm Springs, California. The awards program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 145 cities and 60 countries throughout the world.
