Ponte Vedra Public Education Foundation hosts ArtWorks celebration

On April 22, over 150 families were treated to a celebration of art hosted by the Ponte Vedra Public Education Foundation (PVPEF) at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa.

This year marked the 35th year the PVPEF has sponsored the annual student art show.  Families and friends from Nease High School, Ponte Vedra High School, Landrum Middle School, Ocean Palms Elementary School, Valley Ridge Academy and PVPV-Rawlings Elementary School gathered in the gallery-like space to admire original creations by students in kindergarten through 12th grade. One student from each school will have his/her artwork chosen for framing and displayed in school. The 2018 show was underwritten by a grant from the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Foundation.

Artworks brings attention to students with both natural ability and nurtured talent. Art teachers select from works completed during the year, and professional artists choose from the selected group for the art show. Over 150 personalized certificates are presented at the event and gift certificates for art supplies are awarded to the top art students. It is the only event offered by the PVPEF that is open to the public; all other programs are in-school enrichments and facility enhancements.

Ponte Vedra Public Education Foundation is a 501©3, all volunteer organization with 100 percent of donations going directly to fund enrichments for the five Ponte Vedra public schools. The mission of the Foundation is to enhance public education primarily through the augmentation of the arts in the schools as well as support of educational programs that encourage creative thinking and good character.
