GYMGUYZ, a mobile fitness franchise that brings the gym to its clients, is now servicing the St. Johns County area.

Owner Anthony Zurisko, a Ponte Vedra resident and military veteran who runs the newest addition to the franchise, said he got involved with GYMGUYZ because he loves physical fitness and he didn't want to open an ordinary business.

"It was really years in the making," he said. "Two years ago, my wife and I started looking at viable businesses. We didn't want to open an ordinary business, we wanted to open a business to help people, to change people's lives. After searching for several years, we came across GYMGUYZ and it seemed like the perfect fit for us."

GYMGUYZ has over 200 locations worldwide. As for its owners, the company looks for those who are committed to their community, who have a passion for people and the skills necessary to run an unorthodox business with no brick-and-mortar location.

"You have employees in multiple locations throughout the area," Zurisko noted. "So, you had to have the project management and people skills to manage that. We have a great relationship with the St. Johns and Ponte Vedra community."

As an army veteran, Zurisko said he has always had a commitment to fitness. Furthermore, Zurisko revealed that his wife loves to work out at the gym and shares his passion for physical fitness.

Regarding the GYMGUYZ concept, Zurisko explained that the franchise brings the gym to its clients through customized, convenient and creative workouts that take place wherever customers like.

"We have a professionally-customized van," he said. "It has 365 pieces with brand new state of the art fitness equipment in it."

GYMGUYZ allows clients to work out anywhere, from the beach to their own living rooms. To achieve this, the company uses a 15-passenger van packed with 365 pieces of equipment for trainers to use, including kettlebells, weights, medicine balls, plyometric boxes, battle ropes and more.

In addition to the van, which is used to transport equipment to ensure clients have exactly what they need, Zurisko noted that GYMGUYZ employs nationally-certified coaches who understand what it takes to get in shape.

"Everything we do is one-on-one," he said. "The first step of the process is we do a free in-home assessment. We show up, we talk about their medical history, we talk about their nutrition and then we get really specific about their goals and talk about where they would like to be. Then, we put together a customized plan."

Zurisko said the mobile gym concept helps keep clients accountable. When the workout session comes home, he asserted, it's much harder to skip out and get lazy. He also suggested that some people might not feel comfortable working at a public facility and would prefer to be in the privacy of their own home.
