Dr. Edward Mickolus, who has published 35 books, dozens of scholarly journal articles and scores of newspaper articles, will speak at the next Ponte Vedra Writers meeting on Saturday, Feb. 16.

Mickolus will share the secrets for becoming a more prolific writer. During his presentation, “How To Be(come) a Prolific Writer: Tips and Tricks on Writing and Publishing More Often Than You Think You Can,” Mickolus will draw upon the secrets of numerous writers, including the famous and the justifiably unknown, to offer techniques attendees can use to increase their writing productivity. He’ll also discuss time management methods for writers. Because the Ponte Vedra Library is closed and undergoing repairs, the group will meet at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 400 San Juan Drive. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m.

Mickolus wrote the first doctoral dissertation on international terrorism while earning a Ph.D. from Yale University. He then served in analytical, operational, management and staff positions in the Central Intelligence Agency for 33 years, where he was the CIA’s first full-time analyst on international terrorism. He also analyzed African political, economic, social, military, and leadership issues; wrote political-psychological assessments of world leaders; and managed collection, counterintelligence and covert action programs against terrorists, drug traffickers, weapons proliferators and hostile espionage services.

His 35 books include a series of multi-volume chronologies and biographies on international terrorism; 12 book chapters; 100 articles and reviews in refereed scholarly journals and newspapers and presentations to professional societies; and 14 humorous publications.

The Ponte Vedra Writers group is part of the Florida Writers Association, a statewide, nonprofit organization with nearly 1,500 members dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. The Feb. 16 meeting is free and open to members and non-members alike. For information on FWA, visit www.floridawriters.net.
