Sawgrass Country Club Board of Governors President Fritz Skeen recently announced C.W. Cook has accepted the position of general manager and chief operating officer.

“We look forward to welcoming C.W. and his family to the Club,” said Skeen. “We are confident his leadership and hospitality skills will continue to enhance the Sawgrass Country Club experience for our members.”

Cook replaces former general manager Barry McDonald, who plans to pursue opportunities outside of Sawgrass Country Club. Cook was most recently the general manager of North Hills Club in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was integral in helping to lead that club through a renaissance and multiple phases of construction projects into one of the finest athletic clubs in the country. With over 20 years of private club management experience, he has been general manager at River Hills Country Club in South Carolina, Balcones Country Club in Austin, Texas and assistant general manager at Governors Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Cook holds a degree in hospitality management from Florida International University and a master’s degree in hospitality administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He has also achieved the designation of Master Club Manager (MCM), the highest level of professional certification awarded by the Club Managers Association of America. Currently, there are only 22 individuals in the country to have accomplished this certification. In addition to being an MCM, he is a member of the prestigious Club Managers Association of America Honor Society, and was the 2008 National Excellence in Club Management Award recipient given by Club & Resort Business magazine and The McMahon Group.
