Shearwater recently presented the proceeds from its Earth Day “5K on the Trails and Fun Run/Walk” to three St. Johns County schools.

Checks were presented to representatives from Timberlin Creek Elementary School, Switzerland Point Middle School and Bartram Trail High School to implement various well-being initiatives for students. As the last day of classes for St. Johns County Public Schools was May 24, each school will have time to utilize the funds prior to the upcoming school year.

“Shearwater is committed to being a good neighbor in St. Johns County and supporting the local school system,” said Dylan Read, Shearwater's lifestyle director. “We are honored to present these three schools with a donation that will support students’ health and well-being.”

In April, Shearwater raised more than $1,300 from its Earth Day 5K and celebration, which had more than 160 runners. Participants ran along Shearwater’s trail network and community pathways, which border natural preserves and habitats. The Earth Day celebration also featured kids’ crafts, various outdoor vendors, craft beer, root beer floats and food trucks.

The Shearwater amenities information center is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Model homes from David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Richmond American Homes and MasterCraft Builder Group are available for tour, along with D.S. Ware Homes and Drees Homes models in Shearwater’s new gated neighborhood, the Woodlands.
