SJR State announces new Practical Nursing program

St. Johns River State College recently announced its new Practical Nursing program for students interested in becoming licensed practical nurses. Approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, the year-long vocational certificate program includes 1,350 hours of nursing coursework. Classes begin on the Palatka campus in January 2018 with clinicals scheduled at facilities within the tri-county area.

The Practical Nursing program is designed for students to gain the knowledge and skills to qualify for entry-level positions in nursing. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply for the State Board Examination for Licensed Practical Nursing. The program also articulates into SJR State’s Associate in Science and Bachelor of Science degree programs for Nursing. 

Prospective students are encouraged to attend one of the following information sessions: 

       Nov. 6 from 3-4 p.m., St. Augustine campus, room H124

       Nov. 9 from 4-5 p.m., Orange Park campus, room H1136

       Nov. 10 from 2-3 p.m., Palatka campus, room L114
