Special Forces Association to host charity golf tournament for veterans

The Special Forces Association's Northeast Florida Chapter will host the 2017 Ted Lee Memorial Charity Golf Tournament in St. Augustine, Florida, on Aug. 4 at The Golf Club at South Hampton to raise funds for the Green Beret Foundation and Special Forces Association, which assist Special Forces veterans and their families.

Participants will play an 18-hole scramble best ball format. The event will run from 11 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m. and include hole-in-one contests, putting contests, on-course beverages, team prizes, a barbecue buffet dinner, a silent auction and more.

The Special Forces Association is a non-profit veterans corporation in which members work without pay to raise funds for Special Forces veterans and their families in the St. Augustine community and around the world. The organization depends on donations and sponsorships to meet its annual financial goal.

The Green Beret Golf Tournament is this year's major fundraising event. SFA members are active duty soldiers of the United States Army Special Forces, the Army National Guard Special Forces and retired members or veterans of the U.S. Special Forces.

The Northeast Florida chapter of the SFA includes a Medal of Honor recipient, former members of the Secret Service and the CIA, a former member of the O. S. S. and veterans of special operations in the "Secret War in Laos and Cambodia", Vietnam, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq and operations that are still classified.
