St. Augustine’s “Concerts in the Plaza” returns June 1

Plaza de la Constitución to host free concerts every Thursday throughout the summer.

St. Augustine’s Plaza de la Constitución will once again host the oldest city’s summer-long concert series, “Concerts in the Plaza.”

Returning for its 27th season, the series will provide free, two-hour concerts featuring local musical entertainment every Thursday night at 7 p.m. The concerts will begin on June 1 and continue through the end of August. Each event is rain or shine. The series kicks off with the bluegrass stylings of “The Driftwoods.”

All of the “Concerts in the Plaza” shows are free to attend and visitors are encouraged to bring lounge chairs for seating. Picnic dinners are allowed, but alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the plaza.

June 1   The Driftwoods perform bluegrass, old-time and contemporary music.

June 8   Florida Brass Quintet takes the stage with a mix of Dixieland jazz, swing music and more

June 15   The Mike Hart Band brings a mix of blues, jazz and rock.

June 22   Rob Ellis Peck & Friends will perform southern R&B, classic rock & roll

June 29   Big Pineapple will perform a unique blend of 30’s and 40’s jazz, Bossa Nova, country and swing.

July 6   Doug Carn & The Lincolnville Brass Band bring the parade to the plaza with street parade jazz.

July 13   Bob & Joline and the Friends of Mine Band will perform old-time Florida & classic folk music.

July 20   The Raisin Cake Orchestra mixes jazz from the teens, twenties, thirties.

July 27   The Dunehoppers will take the stage with bluegrass, folk and old-time tunes.

Aug. 3   The Session will perform great American songbook jazz.

Aug. 10   The Grapes of Roth will cover classic rock favorites.

Aug. 17   Ancient City Slickers bring “big fun” music.

Aug. 24   The Gatorbone Band takes their sound from original to traditional and old-time to jazz.

Aug. 31   Lonesome Bert & The Skinny Lizards performs Americana and boogie songs.
