St. Johns County Parks and Recreation seeks support to receive $20K grant during Earth Month

St. Johns County Parks and Recreation is asking for the community’s support to help the department receive a grant to fund improvements in the county.

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company for the fourth consecutive year to help fund local park improvement projects nationwide. The city or county that receives the most nominations through the "Meet Me at the Park" Earth Month campaign will receive a $20,000 grant.

St. Johns County residents can help their local park system receive the grant through April 30 to fund City to Sea, a new educational program aimed at creating opportunities for underserved youth to take day trips to the beach and learn about water safety. Those who nominate City to Sea will be entered into a drawing for a GoPro Prize Pack.

"With a growing population, a thriving park system in our county is as important as ever," said Billy Zeits, assistant director of the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department. "The natural beauty and diverse ecosystems that we all get to enjoy increase our quality of life and bring numerous benefits to our residents. We're asking everyone to take a few minutes to nominate St. Johns County for the 'Meet Me at the Park' Earth Month campaign."

Voting is open and concludes at 11:59 p.m. eastern on April 30. No purchase is necessary to participate. The NRPA Meet Me at the Park Promotion and Voter's Sweepstakes (collectively, "promotions") are open to legal residents 18 years of age or older.
