St. Vincent’s HealthCare
St. Vincent’s HealthCare recently presented its 2017 Mary Awards, which honor young female high school seniors serving God and their neighbors through their faith community.
Twelve finalists were selected by a committee representing the diversity of the local region.They were interviewed and the committee chose one award recipient in each of the four categories.
The recipients for the 2017 Mary Awards are
Academics – Jordan Mayfield, Paxon School for Advanced Studies
Athletics – Kayley Delay, Duncan U. Fletcher High School
Leadership – Alyssa “Gracie” Maynor, Harvest Community High School
Philanthropy – Tanisha Mugwimi, Stanton College Preparatory School
Recipients each received a gift of $1,500 at the awards dinner and ceremony held April 20 at San Jose Country Club.
“We are proud to honor such outstanding young women who are the future leaders of our community,” said Jane R. Lanier, president of the St. Vincent’s Foundation. “Each of our finalists and recipients are an inspiration, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.”
St. Vincent’s HealthCare created the Mary Awards around its core values: service of the poor, reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity and dedication. Candidates must be a high school senior in Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau or Baker counties and demonstrate:
